In the years that have passed since the trip, the three dogboys have given numerous slide shows featuring our expedition. Lately, our audience has been mostly made up of friends who are planning a trip to Denali themselves. It is very rewarding to be able to pass on information that can help their plan. Hopefully this site will reach others with the same goal.
I do not claim to be an expert mountaineer, nor an expert on Denali. This site is simply a story of "our trip", including details on all our training and preparation. It is a compilation of all the pictures, documents, and information that I could gather, along with my memories of the trip.
I should also mention that "our way" is not the only way. There are just as many success stories about teams with completely different planning strategies, training strategies, climbing strategies, and leadership styles. I hope though, that I did drive home the point that having a solid plan, and a strong team is key.
The site probably contains more than you ever wanted to know about the Hillary Dogboy Expedition, but if I missed anything, or if you just want to say "hi", feel free to contact me (Stevo) at webmaster@www.hoffmeyer.com, or Bill at dogboy_bill@msn.com
I would like to dedicate this site to the memory of Julius Picuri, who was my mentor, and my best friend. He introduced me to mountaineering, and inspired me to greater heights. While we were on the expedition, Jule died in a car accident. He was on his way to climb at Yosemite National Park. I know he would have been proud of us.
