The Traverse to Denali Pass (aka The Autobahn)

This is what the traverse to Denali Pass looks like from the camp at 17,200'. As you can see, a large crevasse, affectionately known as "jaws" lurks below the traverse. Here I have drawn a dotted line showing the route. The slope is about 35 degrees.We were lucky to have had some fresh snow on the night before summit day.

With the fresh heavy snow, and all the traffic in front of us, there was a nice beaten trail for us to follow. Even so, we protected the traverse using our 2' pickets.
